Quick help

BrightPath DebtPath is a local-first debt-payoff planning app. It does not require an account, bank connection, or credit check.

If something does not look right:

  1. Open each debt and confirm its current balance, APR, required payment, recurring fee, due day, interest method, and promotional terms.

  2. Compare the result with your latest lender statement.

  3. Remember that DebtPath provides educational estimates. Lender calculations and payment-allocation rules may differ.

Frequently asked questions

How does DebtPath calculate payoff estimates?

DebtPath estimates interest and fees month by month, applies required payments, and directs extra payments according to your selected strategy:

  • Snowball targets the smallest current balance.

  • Avalanche targets the highest APR currently in effect.

  • Custom follows the order you choose.

You can select monthly-periodic or daily-simple interest assumptions and enter promotional APR terms, recurring fees, monthly extra payments, and one-time boosts.

Why is my lender’s payoff amount different?

DebtPath provides educational projections—not lender payoff quotes. Differences may result from:

  • Daily compounding or statement-cycle timing

  • Changing minimum payments or interest rates

  • Deferred-interest or promotional-rate rules

  • Late, annual, transaction, or other fees

  • Payment posting dates

  • Lender-specific payment allocation

  • Pending transactions or accrued interest

Confirm final amounts and payoff instructions directly with your lender.

Does DebtPath connect to my bank?

No. DebtPath does not require bank linking. You enter and update information manually.

Where is my information stored?

Your debt plan is stored locally on your device using Apple’s data-storage technology. This version does not upload your debt information to a BrightPath account or cloud service.

How does Apple Intelligence work?

On eligible devices, DebtPath can use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework to explain already-calculated plan results. Apple Intelligence does not calculate your payoff plan, and DebtPath does not use a third-party AI service.

When Apple Intelligence is unavailable, DebtPath provides a private offline explanation.

How do I record a payment?

Open Progress, tap Payment, select the debt, and enter:

  • Total payment

  • Interest portion

  • Fee portion

  • Payment date

  • Optional note

DebtPath subtracts only the principal portion from the tracked balance. Use your lender statement to confirm the breakdown.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open:

Settings → DebtPath Pro → Restore Purchases

Make sure the device is signed in to the same Apple Account used for the original purchase.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Open:

Settings → DebtPath Pro → Manage Subscription

You can also manage subscriptions through Apple:

Manage Apple subscriptions

Deleting the app does not automatically cancel an active subscription.

What is included in the Free tier?

The Free tier includes debt tracking, snowball, avalanche and custom comparisons, payoff calendars, progress tracking, reminders, plan-health insights, export, private explanations, and one saved scenario.

DebtPath Pro unlocks unlimited saved scenarios.

How do I export my information?

Open:

Settings → Plan & Data → Export all data as CSV

You choose where the exported file is saved or shared. Exported files may contain sensitive financial information, so store and share them carefully.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete individual debts from the Debts screen. Removing the app from your device deletes its locally stored app data unless it remains in a device backup managed by Apple.

Export anything you want to keep before deleting the app.

Notifications are not appearing

Check:

  1. iPhone Settings → Notifications → DebtPath

  2. Confirm notifications are allowed.

  3. Open DebtPath Settings and enable the desired reminder again.

  4. Verify each debt’s due day.

Reminder text intentionally hides lender names and balances.

Face ID or device authentication is not working

Confirm that Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode is configured in iPhone Settings. Then disable and re-enable device authentication inside DebtPath Settings.
