Hermes Link

Your Windows agent, with you.

Hermes Link is an independent native companion for Hermes Agent on Windows, designed for iPhone and iPad, with a separate Mac companion in private testing. Continue existing conversations, read structured replies, send images, and review tool approvals while your agent and tools run on your desktop.

Availability and pricing

The public App Store release is in preparation. It is not available for public download yet.

Planned pricing: free download, a 14-day trial of desktop controls, then a US $9.99 one-time unlock. Local prices will be shown by Apple before purchase. The trial does not automatically convert to a paid purchase. Connection setup, reading conversations and the interactive sample demo remain available after the trial. Your own Hermes installation, network access and any model-provider charges are separate.

Windows connector download

Download Windows connector 1.0.7 (ZIP)

Extract the ZIP on your Windows desktop and read README.md before setup. The package includes setup scripts and Pair-Devices.html for local device pairing. It contains no account credentials. Use your own trusted HTTPS gateway and existing Hermes dashboard sign-in.

What you need

  • A Windows desktop running a compatible Hermes Desktop canonical session runtime and the Hermes dashboard sign-in service.
  • The Hermes Link Windows connector, configured for your existing dashboard operator and default profile.
  • A trusted HTTPS address reachable from your device. For private remote access, connect both devices to your own Tailscale network and use the HTTPS name supplied by your connector.
  • Your existing Hermes dashboard username and password. A Windows or Apple password is not automatically your Hermes password.

Do not expose an unauthenticated Hermes gateway to the public internet. Hermes Link does not bypass certificate errors or supply a model account.

Conversations, files and saved history

Favorites and recent chats help you return to work. The sidebar searches titles and messages saved on your device; Search Windows queries the connected desktop’s message index. Replies support headings, lists, code copying and tables. Supported image uploads are limited to 5 MB each. Supported file links can be previewed or saved, up to 20 MB, when the desktop connector allows the read.

Offline reading stores encrypted recent text from up to 20 opened conversations, up to 256 KB per conversation. It is a saved copy, not a complete backup. Files and images are not cached. Clear saved messages or disable offline reading in Saved history & privacy. Signing out removes that connection’s saved library.

The agent continues working on Windows while the phone app is closed. iOS may suspend network connections; the app reconnects and refreshes when you return. Closed-app push alerts are deferred and are not included in the initial public release.

Help

If you cannot connect, check that Windows Hermes and its dashboard are running, your private network is connected, and the gateway URL uses its valid HTTPS hostname. An IP address may not match the server’s certificate. Sign-in failures usually require your Hermes dashboard credential, not your Windows password. Do not send passwords, session tokens or private conversation transcripts in support messages.

Setup codes and drafts

The Windows connector package includes Pair-Devices.html. Open it on your desktop and enter your configured HTTPS gateway address and profile to generate a QR code locally. In Hermes Link, choose “Scan or paste a setup code.” Review the imported address before entering your dashboard credentials. Setup codes do not contain passwords or tokens and do not sign you in automatically.

Unsent text and staged image references are kept separately for up to 20 conversations in encrypted storage on this device. Each draft supports up to 16,000 characters and four staged images. Turning off offline history does not turn off draft recovery. Staged images must remain available on your desktop; they are not copied into the offline library. Sign out to remove local drafts, favorites and saved history. Unconfirmed delivery reminders are kept until explicitly reviewed to avoid duplicate sends.

Reusable prompts and shared content

Saved prompts let you keep up to 20 reusable instructions for each desktop connection on this device. Inserting one appends to a draft; it never sends automatically. Custom prompts use the same encrypted local library as your saved conversation text.

On iPhone and iPad, choose Hermes Link from another app’s Share sheet to save text, a web link or supported images to a local inbox. The inbox supports up to 10 items or 50 MB total, with up to 16,000 text characters and four images of 5 MB per item. Choose a conversation in Hermes Link and copy an item into its draft. Copying images uploads them to your own Windows desktop; the agent receives the prompt only when you tap Send. Inbox copies stay until you remove them. They are separate from signed-in conversation history and remain after sign-out; use Clear inbox to remove them.

Context, thinking, speed and sound

The conversation controls show desktop-reported context usage (marked when estimated), reasoning effort, reasoning-token totals and average response rate when Hermes supplies them. Missing measurements are shown as not reported. Provider-supported reasoning and fast-mode changes apply to the selected conversation; provider charges can vary. The model’s context limit follows desktop configuration. Compaction summarizes older context and can make a provider-billed model call, so the app asks before requesting it.

A short optional sound plays for a newly completed live response. iPhone/iPad sound respects Silent Mode and requires the app to be active. It does not provide closed-app alerts. No hosted push service is included.

Model, workspace and inventory

Choose a model from your desktop’s configured catalog and change the existing local working folder for an idle conversation. Changes are scoped to that conversation and may affect provider charges or data processing. Unconfirmed requests keep their original identity for an explicit retry. The app also offers an explicit local-folder browser with supported-file previews, plus read-only skills, tools, MCP connection and scheduled-task inventories. Inventory screens do not install tools, modify connections or run scheduled jobs.
